What’s next?

Following the positive response of our younger audiences to our pilot project Liminal at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024, we will develop a children’s show to tour the UK for Chinese New Year 2025 (29 January), consisting of:

A Theatre Show

A 45-minute stage production featuring live erhu music, 1 or possibly 2 performers, lots of audience interaction.

Creative movement workshops

Workshops

Creative movement workshops with live erhu music and improvisation, delivered by our experienced dance teacher.

School Outreach

A 15-minute performance suitable for school assembly, with a user-friendly primary school teacher kit of printable activities and MP3s of erhu songs.

We are looking for producers and collaborators!

We are looking for producers and collaborators in the UK to help develop this ambitious tour. We are open to different modes of collaboration and hope to establish local casts in both the UK and China, to help foster sustainable development of the tour in both countries.

We hope to widen the scope of the tours to other countries in the future, as we are able to create the show and educator kits in multiple languages.

The pilot project Liminal has a teacher kit available in English, Chinese, Spanish and French.

Liminal open rehearsal in Shanghai!

We held an open rehearsal of Liminal at Label Dance Studio in Shanghai on 22 July.

We were so glad to see new and familiar faces at our open rehearsal!

Audiences also took part in a live remixing experiment of erhu score 烛影摇红 Candle Shadow Flickers Red using a special deck of playing cards.

We received supportive feedback from our audience, who also celebrated our journey having seen our progress on social media.

This was the best way to get ready for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe!
